Fergus Tartan Day
Tartan Day in Fergus – celebrate Scottish style with live music and celebrations.
National Tartan Day Concert
The music of North Atlantic Drift follows a centuries-long tradition of the trading of music and musical styles between Ireland, Scotland and the East coast of Canada. Brian Taheny from Sligo, Ireland, Dan MacDonald from Cape Breton Island and Ross Griffiths from the Ontario piping tradition form this particular trading triangle and the product is a multi-instrumental, multi-styled celtic sound that is truly Canadian in its diversity.
Founded in 1927, the Fergus Pipe Band has a long and proud history. For decades, the Fergus Pipe Band has enjoyed a solid reputation as a street band as well as success on the Ontario competition circuit. The band participates in parades both locally in Ontario and elsewhere. A beloved community organization!
Tartan Day is a North American celebration of Scottish heritage on April 6, the date on which the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320. It originated in Canada in the mid-1980s.
Macbeth
A generation of youngsters in Centre Wellington grew up watching the "nearly world famous" Dufflebag Theatre perform on the Fergus Grand stage. Now they''re back with another one of their signature takes on a classic tale, filled with lots of excitement, adventure, and zany hi-jinks. The best part? It''s all family-friendly, made up right on the spot, starring members of the audience!
